Sri. K. Sachidanandan's comment

K.SATCHIDANANDAN

Lathalakshmy is a  a careful  and sensitive short story writer who brings her poetic imagination to bear  on her well-crafted fiction. She shows rare stylistic mastery  and narrative mastery whose distinct proof lies in the brevity of her stories. She  avoids verbosity  and does not use even one unnecessary word which she thinks will break her fragile tales. Often she revisits legends and myths in order to bring about subtle shifts in their significance  and remould their characters so that they bear the stamp of the present. Her narratives show great insight into human character and relationships. Each of her stories, as those in her outstanding collection, Silica, is a comment on the human condition, lyrical as well as philosophical. I do not  find  many writers of Lathalakshmy's  caliber among  the new generation fiction writers in Malayalam.
